Drain Maintenance Tips

Drain blockages occur mostly from people placing material into their drains that should never be there. Keeping all grease, hair, and vegetable matter out of the drain
also helps with odors and possible clogging.

Drain Clogs
Drain blockages occur mostly from people placing material into their drains that should never be there. Many times, liquid materials are poured down the drain and it seems fine, BUT the liquid then solidifies which results in the clogging. Homeowners need to remember to just wait until these types of liquid materials, like oils for example, harden and then dispose of them in the trash – NOT the drain.

Drain Odors
To help keep your drains odor free, you can occasionally run hot water through them; this works some of the time. For better results, try this weekly: you can pour a handful of baking soda followed by hot water down the drain, or pour a cup of vinegar down the drain, let it sit for about 30 minutes, then pour in the hot water.
